“In the Realm of Blue and Black”
New Paintings by Zara Kand
March 4-31st 2013, at The Hive Gallery
Opening Reception: Saturday, March 9th, 8-11pm, $5
The Hive Gallery of Downtown Los Angeles will be premiering a new series of paintings by artist Zara Kand through March this year. Having exhibited as part of the Hive’s many group shows since 2011, this will be Kand’s first showing as featured artist.
Through intense dedication and attention to finesse, Kand has crafted and now presents her new body of work “In the Realm of Blue and Black”. Each painting conveys an individual scenario of intense emotional discovery, yet tie together beautifully as a series with overtones of eroticism, spirituality, and a color pallet dominated by ethereal blues and blacks. This is a vulnerable and melancholic collection of works that calls out to the soul of the viewer.
Zara Kand was born in 1987 in London, England. She relocated to Los Angeles in 2003 and has since excelled in fine art, namely oils. Having developed a unique style she actively participates in arts events and exhibitions primarily in the LA area, showing in venues such as Hive Gallery and Cannibal Flower.
The Hive Gallery and Studios was founded in 2005 and is one of the longest standing galleries on the Downtown Art Walk; on the forefront of establishing the Los Angeles Metro area as a world-wide art mecca with 5 featured artists and a large group show each month. It is located at 729 South Spring St, Los Angeles 90014.
